Sunday's Quiz Practice

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Congrats on making it through the first half of the school year! The second half always goes by faster! We trust that everyone aced their midterms and finals!

On Sunday we will be having another GYF Quiz Practice to prepare us for the fast-approaching Winter Retreat. For those of you who will be in town, please make plans to stay at the church on Sunday afternoon. This week we will be staying at the church all afternoon and ordering in pizza for lunch. If you do not like or want to eat pizza, you are welcome to bring a sack lunch for yourself. *We will be using money from the Teen Fund to purchase the pizza and drinks, so you will not need to bring additional money for lunch.

We will also be practicing for the sporting events at the Winter Retreat, so bring clothes and shoes to change into, as well as extra deodorant.

Lastly, bring any decorating supplies that you would like to use for posters. Tentatively, the teens will be going to the Pastor's House after the PM service to decorate posters for the Winter Retreat. (Note: These plans may change!)

We hope everyone is enjoying their last week of school before Christmas Break. Good luck to everyone who has mid-terms and finals this week!

Thank you to everyone who stayed for yesterday's GYF Quiz Practice. Just two more weeks of practicing before the Winter Retreat! The choir, solos, and preaching all sound great! Keep practicing and preparing...your work will be paying off in just a few weeks!

Wednesday Night we will have Movin' On Up at 7:00 PM. We will be practicing for the GYF singing competitions as well as hearing another message about Maturity from the 'MMMM Good Series.

Sunday Afternoon we will be having another GYF Quiz Practice, so please bring money for lunch.


Don't forget that the $80 fee for the GYF Winter Retreat is due no later than Sunday December 27th. Please see Micah Fauscett or Lisa Thompson to pay.

Every teen who is attending will also need to complete a camper registration form, which can be found in the lobby of the church. These forms are due on December 27th as well.

We must have both your form and your $80 payment by the PM Service on December 27th in order for you to get on the bus on Monday morning.

Don't forget about tomorrow's Teen Christmas Activity! We will be meeting at the church at 6:00 PM to head to Lake Lanier Night of Lights! The cost is $10 per teen, and this covers the entry to the lights. If you plan to purchase snacks/goodies once we arrive, plan to bring a few extra dollars.

We will be taking the bus, so we have plenty of room if you would like to bring a friend! Please dress appropriately, but warmly, as it may get a little chilly on the bus.

Hello, All!

Thank you to everyone who stayed for Sunday's Quiz Practice. Keep practicing I and II Thessalonians -- your efforts will pay off within a few weeks!

Movin' On Up will be on Thursday this week, as opposed to our usual Wednesday meeting. We will meet at the Post Road Property at 7:00 PM. Continue to pray for Pastor as he preaches the revival in Gainesville.

On Saturday evening we will have our Teen Christmas Activity at Lake Lanier Night of Lights. We will be meeting at the church at 6:00 PM, loading on a bus, and going to see the lights. The cost is $10 per person, and it covers the cost of the entrance. So, if you plan on spending money on s'mores, hot chocolate, and other goodies, you will need additional money. Eat dinner before you come!

On Sunday we will be having another GYF Quiz Practice, so continue to memorize I and II Thessalonians. Bring money for lunch.

After the singing and testimonies, we will have desserts, coffee, and hot chocolate!

Thank you to all of the teens who came last night! We had a great turn out and had a lot of fun spending time with everyone! Hopefully no one was too sick after eating/drinking something nasty in the "What Would You Do For a Klondike Bar?" game.

WEDNESDAY: As of right now, we will be meeting at the Canton Highway Property for MOU and the usual Teen Service. (We had originally announced that a missionary would be preaching, however that has been postponed). Meet at the church at 7:00 PM for some crazy conversation time, the famous 2-minute devotional, and the next lesson in the MMMM Good Series! We will continue talking about money this week and you won't want to miss it!

On Wednesday, Movin' On Up will be at the Post Road Property and we will be getting ready for the Fall Festival. *This is not a "work-night" so you do not have to wear old work clothes!* Please meet at the Post Road Property at 7:00 PM.

On Saturday (Halloween), we will have our annual Fall Festival at the Post Road Property, starting at 5:00 pm. Start inviting your friends, family, neighbors, etc! The teens will be operating some of the different games and stations, and we will give you more information on Wednesday Night.

Also on Saturday, set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed so you can enjoy an extra hour of sleep!

On Sunday Night (November 1st) we will be having a Jr. High AfterShox after the PM Service. More details to come about the location and what you need to bring. (If your parents would like to host our November or December AfterShox, please let us know!)

Lastly, the Fall Revival has been canceled. Instead, make plans to work on the building this week. As of right now, we are less than a month away from moving in!

Grace and Truth Teen Summit Information

Hello All--

Hope you are getting excited about the Teen Summit in Sweetwater, TN! We are very excited to see all of our hard work pay off! If you are riding the bus, please be at the church at 5:45 on Friday night. We will be leaving no later than 6:00 PM! (We will be returning around 1:00-2:00 AM on Sunday Morning.)

The hosting church is providing our hotel and food, so you will only need money for the infamous gas station trips!

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY! It is an honor for us to be invited to manage the rally, and we do not want to ruin our testimony by dressing inappropriately. Ladies, please wear skirts or culottes; Guys, please wear pants and appropriate shirts. This applies to both free time and the service. THANK YOU!

This Wednesday we will have Movin' On Up in the downstairs classrooms at 7:00. We had a HUGE crowd last week! Let's try and do that again! We will be discussing the GYF Winter Retreat so go ahead and think about what you would like to participate in -- for example, singing, preaching (guys), teaching (girls), forming a basketball team, etc. The more volunteers we have the better!



Don't forget about Saturday's "Nail Gun Fiasco"! We will be meeting at the church at 2:00 PM for an afternoon of fun, festivities, and food!

• Girls -- We will be going swimming at the Fauscett's house and doing our own nails. Bring your bathing suit, towels, sunscreen, and fingernail polish!
  
• Guys - We will be going to play AirSoft at Jabez's house. Bring your AirSoft guns! (If you don't have one, don't worry, just let us know and we will find one for you to borrow.)

Welcome to Jr. High!

To all of our new class members, WELCOME to the Teen Department! We are glad you moved up and are excited about spending the next three years with you!

We hope everyone is enjoying the last two weeks of freedom before school starts back! Thank you to everyone who came to quiz practice yesterday! Keep practicing and memorizing I and II Thessalonians so you can win the white water rafting trip!

Here are a few things that are going on this week:

1. Working at the Building -- A lot has been done at the new building, but there is still a lot to do! If you are coming to work, make sure you dress appropriately, wear tennis shoes, and come ready to get a lot done!

2. Wednesday Night -- We will NOT be having our usual "Movin' On Up" Service this week. Instead, we are having a combined service in the sanctuary with the kids and adults.

3. Yesterday was our last day in the Teen Suite, so we are "homeless" on Sundays and Wednesdays now! Tentatively, we will be having Sunday School in the main auditorium in the Giggly Wiggly Department. We will let you know the definite location on Saturday Night.

4. This Sunday (August 2nd) will be "Move Up Sunday." All 6th graders will be moving up to the Jr. High and all 9th graders will be moving up to Sr. High. We will miss having everyone in Sunday School and Movin' On Up!

5. There will be a Youth Rally at Rest Haven Baptist Church on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week (July 30-August 1). On Thursday and Friday we will leave the church at 6:00 PM. (We are still deciding on the time for Saturday and will let you know ASAP) If you have any questions, contact Chris Rayner.



In the future:

1. The Nail-Gun Extravaganza is scheduled for Saturday, August 15th. While the guys play paintball, the girls will be getting pedicures!

Movin' On Up Tomorrow Night!

UPDATE for Wednesday:

The teens will have Movin' On Up in the Teen Suite at the current location, at 7:00 PM. (Parents will meet at the new property for prayer and working.)

Gwinnett Braves Game Tomorrow!

We hope everyone is excited about the Gwinnett Braves Game Tomorrow! Meet at the church at 5:00 PM on Tuesday night. We will be stopping for fast food on the way to the game, so bring some money for dinner.



Wear your Braves clothes, but dress modestly! We want people to know we are a church youth group!

VBS Starts Tonight!

Vacation Bible School kicks off tonight at 7:00 PM and will last through Friday! Plan on arriving a few minutes early to register and get seated. Remember, there will be a prize for the teenager who brings the most first-time visitors this week. You MUST make sure you register your visitor(s) with Kayla -- If not, they will not be counted!

Meet in the main auditorium each night. On Monday and Friday we will remain in the auditorium, but on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we will have a separate Teen Service in the GigWig area.

Next week we will be having Teen Vacation Bible School! We will meet Monday-Friday from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Teen Suite. The theme this year is Mountain Dew vs. Dupont -- we will give you more details on Wednesday Night!

Cookout Cancelled

The Church Wide Cookout that was planned for Friday is CANCELLED. Instead, everyone is invited to eat watermelon at Pastor's house after the PM Service on Sunday.

**The AfterShox is still scheduled for this Sunday, July 5th, after the PM Service. We will be going to Troy and Corina's and eating pizza and playing games. We will be taking a church van to their house after the PM service and will meet back at the church for pickup. The Cost is $5.

This Week's Schedule

We hope everyone has caught up on sleep and laundry after Teen Camp. Thanks to all of the teenagers who went -- We had a big group and everyone had a great time! If your teen did not go this year, go ahead and make plans for them to go next year. The dates are June 28-July 2, 2010.

Also, thank you to all of the teenagers who stayed for Sunday's Quiz Team Practice. We will be adding some practice dates to our schedule to make up for the practices we have missed over the past few months. Teens, keep practicing I and II Thessalonians!!

• Movin' On Up starts back this week after a week off for Teen Camp. We will meet in the Teen Suite @ 7:00 PM for games, snacks, and preaching.

• On Friday, July 3rd, tentatively, we will be having a Church-Wide Cookout. When we find out more details (time, location, etc.) we will let you know!

• On Sunday, July 5th, we will be having a Jr. High AfterShox at Troy and Corina's house after the PM Service. More details to come later this week.

• Lastly, your ticket money for the Gwinnett Braves Game is due no later than Sunday Night. The cost is $6 per ticket. If you can't remember how many tickets you reserved, just send one of us an email or text message and we will let you know. The game will be on Tuesday, July 21st.

Sunday Schedule

This week in Sunday School we will be finishing up our study of I and II Thessalonians and we will celebrate with a hot, delicious Honey Bun Cake! Sunday School starts at 9:00, so be on time!


Tomorrow afternoon we will be having quiz practice to get ready for the GYF Winter Retreat. Be sure to ready over I and II Thessalonians before practice! Winter Retreat is in exactly 6 months, so we need to get everything memorized so we can be #1 this year!

We will be staying all afternoon, so bring a few dollars for lunch.

See you then!

The teens will be leaving camp around 2:00 PM this afternoon. They will call as they get closer for a definite time, but tentatively, they should be arriving back at the church around 4:00 PM.

Countdown to Teen Camp 2009!

It's official.....less than a week until Camp Canaan 2009! We will be leaving next Sunday afternoon (time to be announced). Here are a few things you need to pack: your bible, activity clothes, church clothes, a sleeping bag, toiletries, etc. On the other hand, do NOT bring iPods, magazines, books, and anything you do not want to get stolen. We will have Movin' On Up this Wednesday @ 7:00. Be in your place for our crazy conversation time, snacks, and preaching.

Lastly, let us know by Wednesday night if you are coming to the Gwinnett Braves game on July 21st. It is open to teenagers (and parents) and is $6 per ticket plus money for dinner.

Movin' On Up Tonight

Movin' On Up starts back tonight, so be in your place at 7:00! As always, we will play some games, eat some snacks, and have a preaching time. See you tonight!

Gwinnett Braves Game

We are happy to announce that we will be having a Teen Night at the Gwinnett Braves Game on Tuesday, July 21st. The cost is $6 per ticket, plus money for dinner.



We need to let the Braves know how many seats we need, so make sure you let one of us know if you are planning on going and how many tickets you will need. You can tell us in person, by leaving a comment on the blog, or by emailing us (mou.ghbc@gmail.com). We need to have a number by Sunday, June 14th.

The money will be due on Sunday, July 5th, so you have a few weeks to do some extra chores around the house and make some extra money.

We have to purchase at least 25 tickets to get them at this price, so invite some other teenagers to join us! Parents are also invited.

Revival This Week!

We will be having a short Summer Revival on Monday and Tuesday (June 1st and 2nd) this week, starting at 7:00 PM each night. Bro. Larry Brown will be with us so make sure you are at the services!

Instead of our regular Movin' On Up/Teen Service, we will be having a prayer meeting time at the new building on Wednesday Night. The doors will be unlocked from 5:00 PM - Midnight for you and your family to come pray at the new building. Pray that the renovations are completed soon so that we can move into our new Teen Area!

Flyin' High Sunday

We hope everyone is enjoying their first week of summer break! This Sunday we will have the final wrap-up for the Teen Summit with "Flyin' High Friends and Family Day."

We will still have Sunday School and a regular Church Service and then we will head over to the new building for food and fun! We will be eating BBQ, playing games, and hearing popcorn preaching all afternoon. Invite your friends and family to come!
